Day Workers Lunch Program
St. Hilary's believes that, as God commands, we should "love our neighbor as ourselves". To this end, we provide lunches and coffee to the Day Workers in several locations every Saturday.
As Jesus said, "Whatsoever you do for the least of my brothers, that you do for me". We do not involve ourselves in the politics of the issue. We reach out with help, in this simple way, to assist those who need a little help while trying to provide for their families, in an often harsh environment. You have heard the scripture that to bless someone, saying "be fed", means little if you do not feed him. As the book of James clearly states, "Faith without works is dead."
We do what we can to assist those in need with their corporal problems as well as try to lift their spiritual lives to greater contentment. We lift the body as well as the soul.
This program is staffed entirely by volunteers who prepare the lunches, deliver the lunches, and bring those lunches with a smile and a large dose of Christian fellowship. Nothing is asked in return. This, we believe, is a true Christian calling.
